Traveling full time in our Rving life brought us to many amazing RV parks.
Below you will find our list of our 11 favorite from around the US. They are our favorite for many reasons, layout, scenery, things to do at the park or in the area, how close we are to the beach, and a variety of different reasons which we will share in the list below. Get ready and pack up your RV or rent an RV and go out to visit these amazing places!

Enjoy the space and luxury of this beautiful rental that sleeps up to 15.It is all about family fun at Camp Gulf! Enjoy the beach and all Destin has to offer! There are plenty of amenities for fun and convenience right here in the RV park. We are here to make Destin your Destination.
This became our favorite early on and remains our favorite for the simple reason that it is on a beautiful Florida beach. Like seriously on the beach. If you don’t have pets with you, you can literally back up so your rig is touching the sand. If you have pets you have to go one row back but still the beach is right there.
We love this RV park for the obvious reason that you are on the white sand beaches of the beautiful emerald colored waters of the Gulf of Mexico in Destin, Florida. Yes lots of sand ends up in your RV but who cares. And if you are someone who cares you can opt for a site that is further pack in the campground and away from the sand – yet you can still easily walk to the beach.
The Florida RV park itself also has 2 pools, a park and a large recreation room so there is plenty to do when you aren’t beaching it. And if you like to get out to explore the city they have everything from go cart riding to dolphin cruises and pretty much every restaurant you could imagine plus an arcade and plenty of shopping.
From the RV park you can get to a nice bike trail that takes you around the area but there are some attractions that will require a car ride or an Uber.
The RV park also holds bonfires on the beach and a variety of other activities. The price is expensive per night and your best deal is if you can stay for a week or a month at one time. And to look at the off season. We have gone for the month of November and also for the month of December. It isn’t hot beach weather but we had plenty of nice sunny days that we spent on the beach – which was pretty much empty!
Location: 10005 Emerald Coast Pkwy, Destin, FL 32550

Hookups: Mostly full hook up – except right on the beach spots.
Another fun RV park if you are looking to stay by the beach is Gulf State Park. Located west of Destin in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This large campground with over 490 full hook up sites is a great place to come if you are looking to get into the action. It is normally packed with families there for the weekend or on a week long vacation in the summer. It is a really good place to stay with kids.
We loved that it had a large outdoor pool with a splash pad, tennis courts, swings, a nature center and an amazing biking trail that ran throughout the campground. Plus they offered a variety of activities throughout our stay. Plus there are so many fun things to do in Gulf Shores, Alabama!
This park is not located right on the beach but the beach is about a mile walk away or else if you jump in your car you can drive right across the street to the Gulf State Park beach. You do normally have to pay for this beach but with your camping pass it is free!
Location: 20115 AL-135, Gulf Shores, AL 36542

Hookups: Full hookup
The sites are full hook up, with a handful of pull through sites, plus they have tent camping sites and cabins. There are a lot of sites that are great for camping with a group since they backup to each other.
They also have a pool, a large water playground area and water slides. Plus a pond for fishing, activities with Yogi Bear and Cindy Bear. Every night you can sing Yogi to sleep and they have dance parties, crafts, hayrides, the list goes on and on. Each week they do a theme weekend with activities to match.
Our favorite thing about Jellystone was donuts with Cindy every Sunday morning where you could pick your frosting and frost and sprinkle your own donut. If you are looking for something fun to do outside of the campground make sure to check out Green Meadows Farm in Wisconsin it is an awesome petting farm with tons of activities for kids.

This isn’t as much an RV park as it is a campground. But the views are amazing and the sites are gorgeous. You wouldn’t believe that just a short 25 minute drive away gets you into the hustle and bustle of Nashville, Tennessee!
The reason I say it is more a campground is because you only have electric hook ups at your site, so it is better then boondocking where you don’t have anything. And there is water on site at the campground and a dump station. Most RV’s now a days have a nice sized water tank for holding fresh water and gray tank for holding the used water. Same think with black tanks for the bathroom stuff.
That being said don’t let the fact that there are just electric hookups turn you away from this beautiful campground. Our site was located right on the water – as in we could walk right into the lake. Then the beach was right next to us and behind that was a large playground area for the kids.
The sites are also very big so plenty of room to spread out and let the kids run around without bothering the neighbors. Which isn’t always easy to find at RV Parks!

Hook ups: Electric only
When I think of Grayton Beach State Park I get such a warm and fuzzy feeling. We LOVE it here.
Located just a short drive up the road from Camp Gulf (mentioned above) Grayton Beach State Park feels like you are miles away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby tourist cities of Destin and Panama Beach. The secluded state park has trees at every site which is a nice barrier from your neighbors. Plus it is a quick 10 minute walk from your site to the beautiful beach.
Since the beach is a state park beach people have to pay to get in which helps keep the beach from getting over crowded. Don’t get me wrong on a busy weekend it will be busy but not as busy as the public beaches. You can also take a short walk down the beach to visit a couple cute and unique restaurants. But be aware you will have to cross a small waterway where the lake and ocean meet. It is only a foot or so deep.
There is also a bike trail that takes you from the state park to the unique town of Seaside. Seaside is where they filmed the movie The Truman Show. Plus they have great restaurants and shops and airstream row where you can buy delicious food right out of an airstream restaurant.
Location: 357 Main Park Rd, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459

Hookups: Some full and some partial (water and electric)
Stone Mountain is such a fun place to visit in Georgia and the RV park does not disappoint! The sites are nice and big plus some of them have deck areas with grills on them. In all of our years of traveling full time in our RV this was the first time we stayed at a park where the sites had a nice deck area and a grill. We could get use to this!
They also have a nice swimming pool (open during the season), a nice playground area and a sand volleyball court. Our site backed right up to the playground so it gave our kids plenty of room to run!
They have these nice well groomed RV sites but if that isn’t your thing and you would rather have a more rustic site they also offer beautiful sites in the woods. Or you could rent a Yurt or a Safari tent or even rent and RV if you don’t have your own. Don’t want to RV then you can tent camp.
If you want to experience all of the fun to be had at Stone Mountain you can get a package which includes a site and adventure passes to go and experience the fun of Stone Mountain.
Location: 1000 Robert E. Lee Blvd Stone Mountain, GA 30083
Hookups: Full and partial hookup sites.
Road Tripping time! If you are looking for the ultimate RV roadtrip then head down to the Florida Keys. Yes there are RV Parks in the Keys but we have come to realize is a lot of the time the state parks are the way to go. They tend to be less busy and less crammed in – no one really wants to be right next to their neighbor. Plus they are great with kids.
The beach area here is small but again it isn’t busy at all. And to be honest it isn’t really much of a swimming beach area but is perfect for kayaking or just hanging out by the water. There is also a covered pavilion and a nice playground area for kids.
The other nice thing about the State Parks in the Keys is they are going to be one of your cheaper options for camping in the Keys! Most of the RV parks run up to and over $100 a night! The State Parks are more in the $40 a night range. However you do normally need to plan on booking 11 months in advance of your stays. . .the state parks in the Keys fill up fast!

Welcome to Miami! The Miami Everglades RV Resort is more like an RV Park with sites close together but there is plenty of room for kids to run and play in the huge open field and playground area. Plus the pool is huge and they have an awesome mini golf course. We also enjoyed walking on the trail around the property.
If you want to explore Miami and the Everglades this is a great location to do it. You are far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Miami yet you can take a quick drive and you are right in the action. Plus one of our favorite places to explore in the Everglades is close by: Shark Valley. With all the fun things to do in Miami with Kids this is the perfect RV park to use for your home base!
Make sure to check Good Sam they may offer a discount.
Yellowstone camping is the way to go when you visit this National Park. The park is HUGE and if you stay outside of the park you will be spending most of your day driving to get to the places you want to explore inside the park. We recommend Fishing Bridge campground in Yellowstone since it isn’t in a super busy area yet you are still in the heart of the park.
If being in nature yet in the comfort of your RV is what you are looking for then this is the RV Park for you. There are full hookups and you are likely to have a few campground visitors like Bison, Bear, Elk which are all amazing to see from the inside of your RV!
We have been to Yellowstone park multiple times so we know it is totally doable with an RV. Yes, you should do your research before you come to make sure you go in the right entrance – the one with the least amount of mountain driving. But once you have that figured out you are good to go! Check out these 10 best things to do while you’re there.
Death Valley National Park
Surprised to see this one on the list? We did not to expect to love RV camping here as much as we did. Granted we went in the off season when it was cool and not 120 degrees out – I definitely would NOT recommend it then! However in December it was great.
The campground is basically just a large open field/parking lot which makes it super easy to get into your site. The right across the street is this cute restaurant with an amazing outside firepit area that you can sit at and enjoy a snack or a drink. We even got a small bit of cell service which we did not expect.
Not to mention how cool Death Valley National Park is. On your travels if you are looking for a unique family trip with a cool RV park this is the place for you!

Hook ups – a few full hookup – mostly not
When you go onto Jekyll Island you feel like you are entering a whole other world! We love that about visiting here and were so excited when we could stay at the Jekyll Island campground on the island. The campground is filled with these gorgeous and huge trees which just helps it feel more like camping.
Even though you feel like you are really away from it all the campground still has great amenities like wi-fi, a washer and dryer, a general store, pickleball court and more! Plus you are in walking distance to Driftwood Beach one of our favorite attractions on the island.

How about RV spots with a hot tub looking out over the water, an outside kitchen and a firepit. Welcome to Pontchartrain Landing in New Orleans! This awesome RV park with all of the amenities is located a short 15 minute drive into downtown New Orleans.
Besides having the amazing RV sites there is also a beautiful pool and a nice restaurant on site. When you are ready to go into New Orleans you can drive or take the shuttle from the RV Park (There is a cost for this).
