Ingredients:
  1. - 2 cups all-purpose flour

  2. - 2 eggs

  3. - 1 cup milk

  4. - 1 cup shredded cheese (such as Emmental or Gruyere)

  5. - 1/2 tsp salt

  6. - 1/4 tsp black pepper

  7. - 6 slices bacon, chopped

  8. - 1 small onion, finely chopped

  9. - 2 tbsp butter

  10. - Chopped parsley for garnish



Instructions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, eggs, milk, cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.



2. While the dough is resting, cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté the onion in the bacon fat until translucent. Remove the onion from the skillet and set aside.



3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the dough into small dumplings, about 1 inch in size.



4. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop the dumplings into the boiling water and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and set aside.



5. In the same skillet used to cook the bacon and onion, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the cooked dumplings and sauté until they are lightly browned.



6. Add the bacon and onion back to the skillet with the dumplings. Stir to combine and heat through.


7. Serve the Kasnocken hot, garnished with chopped parsley or green onions. Enjoy this comforting and satisfying dish with a side salad or steamed vegetables.
