Margherita Pizza

Margherita pizza is a classic Italian dish consisting of a thin crust topped with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, basil, and olive oil. Named after Queen Margherita of Italy, this simple yet delicious pizza is a favorite among pizza lovers worldwide. Ingredients:

  • - 1 pound pizza dough

  • - 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • - 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • - 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  • - 1/2 teaspoon dried basil

  • - 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • - 1/2 cup tomato sauce

  • - 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

  • - 2 ripe tomatoes, sliced

  • - Fresh basil leaves, for garnish



Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat up.


2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper.



3. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Brush this mixture over the entire surface of the pizza dough.


4. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.



5. Arrange the sliced mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the tomato sauce.


6. Place the sliced tomatoes on top of the cheese.



7. Carefully slide the parchment paper with the assembled pizza onto the hot pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven.


8. Bake the pizza for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.



9. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before garnishing with fresh basil leaves.


10. Slice the pizza and serve hot. Enjoy your delicious Margherita Pizza with tomato slices!
