- 4 bratwurst sausages

- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

- 1 small onion, thinly sliced

- 1 clove garlic, minced

- 1 pound sauerkraut, drained and rinsed

- 1 cup chicken broth

- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds

- Salt and pepper, to taste

1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the bratwurst sausages and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

2. Remove the sausages from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

3. Add the sauerkraut, chicken broth, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.

4. Return the bratwurst sausages to the skillet, nestling them into the sauerkraut mixture. Cover the skillet and simmer over low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. Check the internal temperature of the sausages with a meat thermometer to ensure they have reached 160°F (71°C) before serving.

6. Serve the bratwurst with sauerkraut hot, garnished with additional caraway seeds if desired.

Enjoy this classic German dish with a side of mashed potatoes or crusty bread. Prost!
