A cheesesteak is a popular sandwich that originated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It typically consists of thinly sliced steak, melted cheese, and sometimes grilled onions and peppers, all served on a hoagie roll. The most common types of cheese used for a cheesesteak are provolone, American, or Cheez Whiz. Cheesesteaks are a beloved comfort food enjoyed by many people across the United States.

Ingredients:
- 1 lb thinly sliced beef steak (such as ribeye or sirloin)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 4 slices of provolone or American cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tbsp of olive oil.
2. Add the thinly sliced onions to the skillet and cook until they are caramelized and browned, about 10-15 minutes. Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and add the thinly sliced beef steak. Cook the steak until it is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
4. Season the steak with salt and pepper to taste.
5. Once the steak is cooked, add the caramelized onions back to the skillet and mix them with the steak.
6. Divide the steak and onion mixture into 4 equal portions and place a slice of cheese on top of each portion.
7. Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt over the steak and onions.
8. While the cheese is melting, lightly toast the hoagie rolls in a separate skillet or in the oven.
9. Once the cheese has melted, divide the steak, onion, and cheese mixture onto the toasted hoagie rolls.
10. Serve the cheesesteaks hot and enjoy!
Note: Feel free to customize your cheesesteaks by adding other toppings such as peppers, mushrooms, or hot sauce. Enjoy your delicious homemade cheesesteaks!
