Ingredients:

- 5-6 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

- 1/2 cup granulated sugar

- 1/2 cup brown sugar

- 1 tsp ground cinnamon

- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

- 1/4 tsp ground cloves

- 1/2 cup raisins

- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs

- 1/4 cup melted butter

- 1 package of filo dough or phyllo dough

- Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, raisins, and walnuts. Toss to coat the apples evenly.

3. In a small bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs and melted butter.

4. Lay out one sheet of filo dough on a clean surface and brush it with the breadcrumb and butter mixture. Repeat this process with 3-4 more sheets of filo dough, layering them on top of each other.

5. Spread the apple filling along one long edge of the filo dough, leaving about 2 inches of space on each side. Roll the filo dough tightly around the filling, tucking in the sides as you go.

6. Place the rolled strudel on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down. Brush the top of the strudel with melted butter.

7. Bake the Apfelstrudel in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.

8. Remove the strudel from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.

9. Serve the Apfelstrudel warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Enjoy your homemade Apfelstrudel with a cup of coffee or tea for a delightful dessert experience. Prost!
