Ingredients:
- 1 pound of thinly sliced beef (such as ribeye or sirloin)
- 1/2 cup of soy sauce
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of grated ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1/2 pear, grated
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Vegetable oil for cooking
Instructions:
1. Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes in a large bowl. Stir thoroughly until the sugar is fully dissolved.
2. Add the sliced beef to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
To begin, heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat, and then add a drizzle of vegetable oil to the pan.
4. Place the marinated beef in the hot skillet, ensuring that the pan is not overcrowded. If needed, cook the beef in separate batches.
5. Stir-fry the beef for 2-3 minutes, or until it is cooked through and slightly caramelized. Add the sliced onion, green onions, and julienned carrot to the pan and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes.
6. Add the grated pear to the pan and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
7. Remove the Bulgogi from the heat and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot with steamed rice and kimchi on the side.
8. Enjoy your homemade Bulgogi with friends and family, and savor the delicious flavors of this iconic Korean dish.
Bulgogi is a versatile dish that can be enjoyed on its own, wrapped in lettuce leaves, or served with a variety of side dishes. Experiment with different ingredients and flavors to create your unique version of this classic Korean favorite.
