Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert that is loved for its creamy texture and rich flavor. This recipe will guide you through the steps to create a delicious tiramisu that is sure to impress your guests.

  • - 6 egg yolks

  • - 3/4 cup sugar

  • - 1 cup mascarpone cheese

  • - 1 1/2 cups heavy cream

  • - 2 cups strong brewed coffee

  • - 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)

  • - 1 package ladyfinger cookies

  • - Cocoa powder for dusting

1. In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until well combined. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Continue to whisk the mixture until it thickens and doubles in volume, about 5-7 minutes.

2. Remove the bowl from the heat and let it cool slightly. Add the mascarpone cheese and mix until smooth and well combined.

3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.

4. In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur. Dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee mixture, making sure to coat both sides but not soak the cookie.

5. In a 9x13 inch dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfinger cookies on the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the cookies. Repeat with another layer of soaked cookies and the remaining mascarpone mixture.

6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together.

7. Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder for a finishing touch.

8. Slice and serve the tiramisu chilled, and enjoy the creamy, decadent flavors of this classic Italian dessert.

This tiramisu recipe is perfect for special occasions or dinner parties, as it can be made ahead of time and easily feeds a crowd. The combination of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone cheese is sure to leave your guests wanting more. Buon appetito!
