Ingredients:
  • - 4 boneless pork loin chops

  • - Salt and pepper

  • - 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • - 2 eggs, beaten

  • - 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • - Vegetable oil for frying

  • - Shredded cabbage for serving

For the tonkatsu sauce:
  • - 1/4 cup ketchup

  • - 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • - 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • - 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions:

1. Start by preparing the tonkatsu sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and sugar. Cook over low heat until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce has thickened slightly. Set aside.

2. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides.

3. Dredge each pork chop in flour, shaking off any excess. Dip the pork chops in the beaten eggs, then coat them evenly with panko breadcrumbs.

4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. The oil should be about 1 inch deep.

5. Carefully place the breaded pork chops in the hot oil and fry for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Make sure to monitor the temperature of the oil to ensure even cooking.

6. Once the pork chops are cooked, transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain off any excess oil.

7. Serve the tonkatsu hot with a side of shredded cabbage and the tonkatsu sauce on the side for dipping.

8. Enjoy your crispy and flavorful tonkatsu with a side of rice or miso soup for a complete Japanese meal.

Note: Tonkatsu can also be made with chicken or beef cutlets if preferred. Adjust cooking times accordingly based on the type of meat used.

Follow these steps to create a delicious and authentic tonkatsu dish that will impress your family and friends. Bon appétit!
